2nd District (OH) Race: BizzyBlog Responds to Baseless and Reckless Accusation of DeWine Campaign Involvement

Filed under: OH-02 US House — TBlumer @ 8:31 am

Note to Readers: BizzyBlog has not made up his mind about his vote on Tuesday. I have no involvement with any campaign, and no one is paying me anything to blog this campaign. I have not, and will not contribute to anyone’s 2nd District campaign. K?

This e-mail exchange occurred on Wednesday while I was out of town on business and barely keeping up with e-mails, let alone surfing the blogs. Little did I know that the original e-mail from Eric would be posted at a forum (clarification: the forum post was done by someone else) and the rest of our e-mail exchange not noted.

For the record, you can read the exchange by clicking “more.”

(Eric, you owe BizzyBlog an apology for letting the baseless charge hang; and Eric, I added the word “reckless” to the post for your failure to acknowledge. Finally, Eric, I’m having a Friday morning AM brain cramp and can’t remember if you have your own blog. Please advise.)

Original e-mail from Eric

Tom,

In your letter to the Hillsboro writer, you mention
that you have not yet made up your mind on this
election and are blogging on the facts because the
papers are lacking.

Every single post has been about McEwen. Is this
because you thought of voting for him but want to know
everything about him and think others should as well?
Or is it because some of the money that DeWine’s dad
raised made it into your pockets?

I researched most of your info on my own and my slant
is much different than yours. If you are going to
provide real facts, maybe you should follow the lead
of RollCall (attached), or at least have the
credibility to come out and say you are a DeWine
supporter.

Cheers,

Eric

My response

Eric,

Every single post is not about McEwen:
- Warning GOP to take Dems seriously.
- Forum post comprehensively reviewed every single candidates presentation
- about 1/3-1/2 of the two prattle posts are about other things (note my take on the DDN DeWine endorsement).

(BizzyBlog Addendum: This post about selective right-to-life endorsements is not about McEwen, although McEwen is one of the three candidates endorsed by the Cincinnati RTL PAC.)

My first post made it clear that I have given no one money and I haven’t made up my mind. I guess I better make it clear I’m not getting any $ from anyone because I’m not. Instead, I’m spending time I should be putting into my business, because once I heard the McEwen radio ads on May 20, I knew his effort was serious.

Then I began investigating on my own, and the more I saw, the worse he looked. It’s that simple.

I have NOT NOT NOT made up my mind. If it makes you feel better, I’m leaning Brinkman, Schmidt is my runner-up, Minamyer is my dark horse, and I’m leaning against DeWine.

Your charges are on the reckless side. I’m sorry I don’t have the time to read the RC piece but will after an immediate business crisis gets taken care of.

Eric’s response to my response

Thanks for being civil and clarifying some things for
me. I appreciate it.

I also have been low on time and skimming your page
all I saw was McEwen. I’ll read your other articles
soon.

The only thing I am worried about is that if enough
people split their vote between McEwen, Schmidt, and
Brinkman, then DeWine will win. Many people share my
sentiments and though it is not a reason in itself to
vote McEwen, we should be careful on how we weigh
certain attributes versus a DeWine win.

The latest poll showed McEwen and DeWine in a dead
heat, with the rest a good bit behind. McEwen is a
good man. I met him the other week and spent some
time talking to his son, which is a better judge of
character I believe that looking a politician in the
eye.

Check out yesterdays post at http://blog.oh02.com/ to
see the Dayton article on McEwens exoneration, when
you have time, of course.

Thanks again for being forthright. Keep up the
blogging.

-Eric

Finally, a second followup I sent before getting Eric’s response to my response (BizzyBlog apologizes for relatively small bit of intemperance)

I suppose I could tell you that you can now report back to the McEwen camp. How reckless would that be?

Are we having fun yet? Can we get back to blogging the bleeping campaign now?
