Is Someone in Louisiana Getting Nervous? The “impeachblanco.com” Domain
SEPTEMBER 15 UPDATE: Ms. Stewart’s comment is at #6 below, and deservedly rips me and Paul at Wizbang for our assumptions (even though they weren’t final conclusions) about her motivations for registering the domain.
Ms. Stewart separately informed me a few days ago that she wants the domain used to gauge the degree of interest in pursuing electoral or legislative action against Ms. Blanco, that she is unable to manage the effort herself, and that she is open to reasonable offers for the domain. I would encourage anyone who is interested in testing the waters for a Blanco removal effort to consider purchasing the domain; if I lived in Louisiana instead of Ohio, I would consider buying it myself. I did not update my post to reflect her information, should have done so on Tuesday at the latest, and am sorry for not having done so.
Ms. Stewart, I am sincerely sorry for the false assumptions noted above, the assumption that you are the folklorist I linked to, and the otherwise sometimes harsh language in the post below, but in the interest of the record, and to remind myself that in the future I should go the last investigative mile if necessary before reaching any sort of conclusions, I’m going to leave the original post as is as an embarrassing monument to my haste.

….. followed a quote from Allen Toussaint and the lyrics from a Randy Newman song about the 1927 Mississippi River flood (which did not seriously damage New Orleans).
Administrative Contact “Polly Stewart” may be the folklorist of some note (halfway down page). You can also see a picture of her at a Utah State University folklore gathering here (halfway down).
So, is the Impeach Blanco domain registration:
- A preemptive action taken by the governor, but with sufficient distance from her to claim plausible deniability?
- OR, an independent action by a sympathizer?
Dot connectors are welcome.
Perhaps the apparent Who’s Who of Louisiana politics that attended the funeral of Walter Fox McKeithen in July might jar some memories (scroll halfway down the page at this link for Mr. McKeithen’s obit).

UPDATE: I contacted the registrar, whose rep noted that the phone number is clearly not valid. He suggested that I file an online complaint, and I did. The registrar has the right to pull the registration if it is found that the applicant provided false information. If I learn more, I’ll let readers know. I have also e-mailed Ms. Stewart asking if the domain is for sale. :->
UPDATE 2: An e-mailer informs me that impeachment and removal would mean Mitch Landrieu would become governor, which the e-mailer apparently sees as even worse than Blanco, and suggests that any attempt at removing her would be an enormous task. The first commenter below disagrees about the difficutlty.
UPDATE 3: Paul at Wizbang digs up a lot more about Ms. Stewart. Assuming it’s the same person, and it would appear that there’s little doubt at this point, she is, as Paul says, a “Bush Hating Kerry supporter.” He thinks it’s a preemptive squat by an interested supporter. Obviously I have no proof otherwise, but I wouldn’t rule out awareness of the domain registration (or more) on the part of Ms. Blanco or her staff.

http://www.impeachkathleen.com seems to be available.
And, I don’t think it would be very hard at all to impeach her.

The head of FEMA was replaced so that the corrupt politicians have someone they can work with; it’ll be neat to see the investigation and audit of Congress’ connections to these Katrina politicians.
Bush pulled his guy right away.

Check wizbang, I carried the ball over the goal line for you.
Comment by Paul — September 10, 2005 @ 3:45 pm
#3 Paul, thanks a lot. It’s “over the goal line” if you think there’s no connection of any kind to Blanco or someone on her staff, who might have requested that someone outside the Governor’s office register the domain.
It would be more than a little interesting if it could be shown that Ms. Stewart knows the Guv or a high-up staff member. Googling “Kathleen Blanco” and “folklore” gives some indication that she may have a more than passing interest in “folklore.”
Maybe with all the money LA wastes they’ve given out folklore or cultural grants or something similarly silly in the past. Perhaps Ms. Stewart has been a recipient?

The site’s contact number has been changed, and the home page is a clone of saxoncreek.com, so I guess Polly intends to hang on to it.
Wizbang commenters have noted several other easy-to-remember domain suggestions, so Polly and friends may have to reach a bit deeper into their pockets to protect their darling ditherer.

Repeat of what I replied on Wizbang…
First a few facts:
I AM that Polly Stewart, whatever that means.
I have zero connections to Blanco or anyone connected to her.
I did NOT vote for her.
I am a Democrat but choose who to vote for by what they offer. She had/has neither the experience nor personal strength to be our governor, as became deadly obvious.
I registered the domain in good faith, angry and and genuinely ready to see an end to her incompetence.
Between then and now many things have happened personally and I do not have the time or the energy to pursue this. Whether you believe any of this or not I really don’t give a rat’s ass.
A lot has happened to change my negative opinion of Blanco… and it gets worse every day.
Jumping to the conclusion that I am one of the so called ‘loonie left’ says more about you than me.
I say again, I voted for Jindal, not Blanco and was very vocal about my reasons at the time… and it breaks my heart to see just how right I was.
I replied to every email I received, about acquiring the domain, with “Make an offer.” Someone needs to put up or shut up.
