John Murtha’s Christmas Present to Jean Schmidt

Murtha

UPDATE: Major John at Miserable Donuts (HT Instapundit) skewers Murtha: “Unmitigated crap ….. (and) he knows better.” Major John also usefully recounts a history of the military’s recovery from 1970s neglect through today’s fighting force.

UPDATE 2: Mark Steyn, in his Sunday Chicago Sun-Times column: “I the reaction to Murtha’s remarks by my military readers is anything to go by, he ought to be grateful they’re still bogged down in Iraq and not in the congressional parking lot.”

  1. Presents for Jean

And in related news, John Murtha grabbed a headline at The Washington Times. BizzyBlog is calling it his Christmas present to Jean Schmidt.

  2. This is definitely a present, but not for Schmidt. Murtha has made an outrageous comment that reflects poorly on him. Now if Schmidt can keep her mouth shut, the focus can by on Murtha’s senility instead of Schmidt’s lack of class.

This could have been the focus for the last 3 weeks too, if Schmidt had not lied about Rep. Bubp’s comments to slur Murtha. Let’s not blow another chance Murtha has given us to make the left look bad.

  3. #2, Keep in mind if you can that this is my political assessment only, and that I could be wrong (but I doubt it :–>).

The more Murtha jumps the shark (he automatically makes the left look bad we don’t have to help him), the more it turns into “Jean Schmidt? Oh, she’s the gal that stood up to that nutcase Murtha.” (a big improvement for Schmidt over “that Marine Murtha,” doncha think?)

That’s my assessment. You have yours. I didn’t say whether I like it or don’t like it. Let’s leave it at that.
