#11, I did not say that she is not qualifed in my post. I did a search on qual and found nothing but your comment.

But while you're on the subject, she could have the resume of Henry Kissinger, Bush 41, and Adlai Stevenson all rolled into one, and I wouldn't care. She doesn't meet what should be the easiest of qualifications -- She doesn't live in the district.

Your swipes at the Yale MBA in the Oval Office are not only uncalled for, but also incorrect and insufferably arrogant. Isn't it funny how the press has characterized almost every GOP president or candidate as a dummy or out of touch, including Eisenhower (who only orchestrated the greatest military attack in the history of mankind)? Actually, it's not funny, it's sad.

I agree it should be illegal, but its not. So should be redistricting, its the sad state of political maneuvering that both parties must circum to so they can maintain power. Truly shameful.

You say though that it is amoral... I think that's a bit of a stretch. You also say she is not qualified. Well, I think that's also wrong. Her bio:

Tammy received her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Hawaii and her master's degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She was working on a doctorate in political science at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb when deployed to Iraq. She is a published author, with papers and textbook contributions on the link between environmental health hazards and cancer.

She is more qualified than our current president in understanding complex political views and I bet she can pronounce all of the heads of states successfully as well.

#9, that is EXACTLY what will happen if Duckworth wins. The 6th District won't really have a representative, just an Emanuel puppet.

That's just like in OH's Second District in June of 2005, where if one month move-in Bob McEwen would have won, he would have reported to his Christian fundamentalist backers and not to us.

Let's face it. There is a double standard when it comes to carpet baggers. They are OK as long as they are Democrats. What gets me is the way she was put in to this. Rahm Emanuel looked around for a veteran (wounded was even better) and put her in. She has no record; her stated policies are bland pablum with no real specifics and now she appears to be avoiding debates.

The bottom line is she will not be looking to represent us (I live in the 6th district). She will owe everything to Emanuel and the national Democratic party and do what they say.

I opposed Keyes' candidacy. At least he moved into IL.

The type of people I would support wouldn't do an amoral thing like try to represent people they don't live among.

Now I understand.
The lesson is: anyone you don't support shouldn't be able to run outside their district.
Cheney was hardly a Wyoming resident when he was their representative in Congress.
I used to live in Chicago -- I didn't remember seeing Alan Keyes around much when he got destroyed by Barack Obama.

The question on Cheney was whether he and W were both TX residents. The court said no. They were and are residents of the US, meaning that both of them live within the relevant jurisdiction.

As my post patiently explains, I don't think it should be legal to run in a district you don't live in, but it is. In spite of that, not voting for such a person would be a good idea. Last year, I suggested not voting for a Republican who had moved into my district a month before the election.

A congressperson should be a part of the district they represent, and that means living in it. Someone who refuses to be a part of that district doesn't deserve the votes of the residents of that district. I'm suggesting that people not vote for representatives who take that stand, and I will do so until November 7. Based on the surprising results in IL's 6th District, more than a few people there agree with me.

A court of law would clearly support Duckworth's run, also.
So please don't complain about Duckworth. Thanks.

#3, the attempt to prove that failed in court just after the 2000 election.
