#8, Gary, if he has been registered to vote in Lisbon and should not have been, that is illegal, and has been illegal, including his vote in 2004. That would be known in some quarters as a *crime*.

Not living in your district as a congressman (Strickland did not tell his district where he lived until he began his guv run) is fatal to a congressional candidate if voters know about it:

If voting matters are *small* I wish the people beating up on Blackwell over made-up voting problems would shut up and go on to more *important* things.

Mr. Strickland is running for a statewide office. Both Lisbon and Columbus are still in Ohio, last time I checked. Trying to defeat a candidate with apparently overwhelming support statewide with something so small and open to interpretation as this issue would rank right up there with, I don’t know, maybe requiring 20# paper stock for voting forms or quibbling over what the definition of “is”, is.

#4, you alone of all in the universe appear to be making that observation about Blackwell, whose along with his campaign caught Strickland in more than a half-dozen false or misleading statements during the debate, which is why I am not posting your characterization of Blackwell, unless and until you have and show evidence.

As to the election and residency claims, the facts are what the facts are, and the Columbiana County BOE will have to sort through all of it. It would appear that either he IS a resident of Lisbon and has been lying to Franklin County about the nature of his condo, or he is a resident of Franklin County and illegally voted in Lisbon.

So YOU pick your straw to grasp at.

I’m not. If the electoral case is valid, it should rule. Tax fraud can be spun into a “clerical error,” and can be “made right” with penalties, interest, etc.

Violating the fundamentals of our electoral franchise cannot be repaired. If he voted in Lisbon and didn’t have the right to, no amount of money or contrition will enable him to take it back.

The beauty of this pickle that Strickland got himself in is that I am willing to accept whatever Strickland wants to do.

Either he committed a fourth degree felony by voting illegally several times in Columbiana County when he lives in Columbus OR

He committed tax fraud by applying for and receiving the 2.5% property tax reduction.

Which is it Ted? Election fraud or Tax fraud?
