John Cox Lays Down the Benchmarks
Consider this a 2008 checklist for sensible issue positions (HT to the anon e-mailer who sent the link). I’m with John Cox on 98% of what he says, and the 2% where we might differ doesn’t matter.
I don’t know John Cox, but if he checks out (anyone who knows him or of him is welcome to comment or e-mail), and if no one comes forth who is very close to where he is on the issues, he should be the conservative/common sense (but I’m being redundant) standard-bearer.

I can agree with most of his positions. Obviously I have issues with someone telling me I can’t contract with other perfectly capable adult for companionship. I am opposed to abortion in the third trimester, but prior to that I am open to it. I believe that is a conservative position (absolutists on anti-abortion seek to impose government control over my choices about my physical body).
His health care plan is closer to my preferences, but…

John Cox is the one conservatives have been looking for. He is talking sense on the issues and is, frankly, far better than the liberals the media are pushing onto us. I hope people give him a chance and find out more about him, as you did.

#3, In the Internet age, if done right, anyone has a shot. No one has figured out how to get it done yet. Cox needs to be very creative.
