Parrots save owner from fire
A woman escaped from her burning house in Vopnafjördur, east Iceland, on Saturday morning. She said her parrots woke her up and saved her life.
The house owner, Gunnhildur Ãsmundsdóttir, woke up when her parrots, which were in a separate room, started squawking. The fire detector had not gone off. Morgunbladid reports.
Ãsmundsdóttir had to break a window on the upper floor to get out of the house, as the fire had blocked other exits. She managed to get out onto the roof of her garage with the parrots. Her cat also jumped out of a window to safety.
