This Is Nice, But It Shouldn’t be Necessary
Banks are starting to offer free identity-theft insurance.
Though I’ve noticed some planned improvements, I’d be more impressed if better measures were in place to prevent ID theft.
Car insurance is understandably a “clean up the mess” situation, because accidents happen. ID theft is not analogous, because the banks selling you the insurance are the same people who should be doing more to prevent the messes.
