Coulter Was Wrong to Say What She Said ….
Warning: The “new F-Word” that BizzyBlog won’t use here will be found at the third and later links. If you object to seeing the word, don’t click on the links.

And nothing that follows changes that (sentiments that I fully agree with are here and here).
But the line at the Confessional for Politically Incorrect Words should be pretty long.
Wonder of wonders, those in line ahead of her are mostly, if not all ….. (drum roll, please) ….. hard-leftists (HT LGF).
Looks like a lot of people are in Dire Straits (15th and 16th lines of lyrics).

UPDATE: I should also add that a brief visit to some of the links (but not all — I had to give up the research when even the hazmat suit worn for the occasion became uninhabitable) yielded NO indication that any reader or commenter was troubled by the use of what is now being called the “new F-word.”
UPDATE 2: Look, I know all of this (click on the cached links; originals appear in a couple of cases to be unavailable) relates to criticizing a Democrat(ick?) candidate. But that doesn’t change the fact that there was no hesitation or objection to employing the “new F-word” in criticizing him (which I’m not even sure the candidate himself ever used), or even to use it in the name of a web site. Hmm. Screen shots have been saved in case the items get “lost.”
UPDATE 3: Eric at Plunderbund didn’t seem to mind the “new F-word” web site name in December of 2005, either. There would appear to be an etiquette book opportunity for who can and can’t use the “new F-word,” and what occasions are and aren’t proper for use of the “new F-word.”

…if you can’t tell the difference there’s no hope for ya!

#1, it does not matter whether I can tell the difference; what matters is how the PC police in control at the moment define what is acceptable and what is not ….. which is why that word and a couple of others do not get used here.
I had a discussion with someone else about this tonight and the sense was that Coulter’s reckless and wrong use of the word is a weak runner-up to those linked to in the body of this post — but with no accountability, and certainly no economic penalty. So much for fairness.
….or do we need to get into who Al Gore was associated with only 15-19 short years ago?

He also supported the 1988 presidential bid of Al Gore, whose campaign used Phelps’ family office space.
Again, no accountability.

Tom, it does matter. If you can’t figure out why I’d find it OK that a gay man calls his blog f****a**f*****t (and funny that a paper’s blog would reference it as such) but not OK that Coulter calls Edwards a faggot…well, then you got issues.
It has squat to do with political correctness and everything to do with the proper way to conduct yourself in a given setting. Your PC argument seems to hint at the fact that you think it’s an OK word to toss around in such contexts.
Nobody called anyone a f****t - it was the name of a website and it was being referenced. Big difference. You are, again, reaching.

#3, I am assuming then that Kos and his leftists owe W an apology for calling him a f****t in at least a half-dozen posts?
The available answers are “yes†and “no.â€
The person I had the discussion with tonight was very offended at F-A-F’s site name, and thinks it’s just as reprehensible as if an African-American had a site called N-A-N. I’m not nearly as troubled by that, but the person I spoke with tonight made it clear that I’m not “reaching†as far as you think.
I personally don’t think it’s an okay word to throw around in any context, including a site name. It was, however, OK to have a song with the word used twice in 1985 without objection, and I missed when the sea change happened in the past 22 years. But, I’m on board, because life is too short to spend it in the muck.

Absolutely a post at Kos or anywhere else calling W a f gg t are over the line. As for the site name? Not my site. I just talked about it at one point. How could one be offended by a site name? THAT seems a bit “PC” to me. We won’t have the discussion about why one might name a site like that or why blacks would adopt the N word amongst themselves. Interesting to be sure, but I’m tired…

That was more than yes or no, but I await the apologies.
