#3, Given the Nov. rejection of Issue 3, the new law should be on the ballot so the merits can be discussed.

I'm so happy to see The Senates common sence approach to sensible legislation shine through with SB 125. Even though the people voted down Issue 3, The Senates decision on SB 125 shows to me the states cut wasn't enough on Issue 3, not because they didn't want slots at tracks ! When The House of Reps pass the Instant Racing Bill, it will be just a matter of time before the tracks get real slot machines. Ohio simply can't afford to keep allowing 100's of millions of gambling dollars to goto other boardering states and all for what ? Because it tears at the moral fiber of socity ? Give me a break !!!

#1, not quite analogous to say the least. There was an election in 2004, and he won. Governing by polls (that are almost always of voters and non-voters) guarantees that very little gets done .... see White House, 1993-2000.

Tom - thanks. I know I haven't written about this yet, but I do have the subject flagged. As an instigator of debate, however, I have to say that the disregard for the public's opposition to gambling here in Ohio reminds me a bit of the Bush administrations disregard for the public's opposition to a continued presence, as it currently stands, in Iraq. I know - this is debatable and for sure there's room to say not analogous. But, like I said - certainly worthy of a debate. Though probably not at this very moment. :)
