Voinovich’s performance yesterday demonstrates to me that our Congress is out of control, Senators are out of touch with the country, they believe they are above the people, and I dear say the law, and in the final analysis, they need to be brought back in to the fold. The only way for this to happen is for state legislative bodies to start using the power they have. However, I would say that because the two party system in this country is so strong we have this informal rank structure where elected officials in Congress somehow think they are above the internal state elected officials. This is not the case.

I am calling for Senate Harris of Ashland, and the President of the Ohio Senate, to call both Voinovich and Brown to the Statehouse and explain the Kennedy Immigration Amnesty Bill in detail so that the citizens and elected officials in Ohio know what the impending issues are going to be if such a bill is pasted. There are remarkable costs involved in the bill and states will suffer a huge burden.

In the end Tom he will prove you right because US Senators believe they are not in the US Senate, but the Roman Senate where their power is above question. Voinovich needs to retire not only because he is an embarrassment, but because his soul is truly in peril. Anyone that that thinks he is above the people has a corrupt soul. The time has come to repeal the 17th Amendment.
