#4 and #5, one hardly knows where to begin.

If any ONE of the Big Three Nets had honestly assessed themselves 25, 20, 15, or 10 years ago and decided to go the fair and balanced direction Fox News pioneered, there would have been no need for Fox News. But noooooo.

The Evening News programs are primarily doing themselves in precisely because they think they are untouchable “institutions.” Long, long ago, MRC and NB could have been seen as constructive critics, as they have been since the beginning (you should keep the criticisms of some commenters at NB separate from the posters). But instead, they were dismissed as irrelevant, non-influential, and worth being ignored. Almost never have they acknowledged their errors and biased reports, despite there being literally hundreds, if not thousands, of them.

I’m supposed to be feeling sorry for people who rig car explosions (NBC), use forged documents to try to swing an election (CBS), and reveal military and other secrets routinely (ABC)? I don’t think so. As long as they continue to conduct themselves in this manner, why should anyone lose sleep if they disappear?

Conservatives acknowledge the necessity for creative destruction. Horses give way to cars. Slide rules yield to computers. Wireless phones may give way to iPhones or who knows what. And cable- and/or Internet-based news may bring the evening news shows to an end. It didn’t have to happen so fast, but the relentless bias and agenda have hastened it.

I have more to say.

How does pointing out the flaws that are seen and made apparent making the world a better place? How is it that someone can feel content that they are bringing down and not building up? How can somebody look themselves in the mirror with this kind of vitriol displayed on a regular basis? I am not debating what is and is not true. I take things that I see with a grain of salt. I assume that yes, there is a media bias towards a certain party. I read Newsbusters enough. What I do not understand is what they are trying to accomplish?

Do they want all of the perveyors of bias to be dashed away? Do they expect the problem to go on indefinately and expect to stay the blockade against it? Or are they. like I have said in 1., trying to criticize obstructively? If the last suggestion is true, then why do they seem gleefull in the failure of abc, nbc, & cbs? Why do they want it to fall? What needs to be done is an influx of Conservative minds into the reporting society. That is what they should incourage, not the destruuction of Evening News. Whether biased, skewed, or mistake ridden, there has to be a base for the news. There has to somewhere that all the news can revolve around. Cable news is too hoaky, the blogs too skeevy, and the newspapers not fast enough. Though one thing we can all agree on is that the solution to this problem is not getting rid of Evening News or FOX or any one source. It is that we share openly and work with, not against, one another.

Seeing as how Conservatives like tradition and unity that is not a form of ideaology in a cause, I am pretty distrot to see that Conservatives on Newsbusters.org glad to see the network Evening News go down the drain. The Evening News has been a mainstay of modern America and that the right would ultimately be so petty in the face of the failure of such a great institution over these diferences of opinion is so archaic I can hardly believe it.

The Conservative movement against Liberal bias is not constructive criticissm. Or if it is supposed to be constructive, I do not understand how. They pick apart what they see as indefendable and spit in the faces of the ones who are wrong. It is apparent that this is the case. I do not like this coming from any party. Media Maters picking on Imus out of his career. I do not like this from Newsbusters either.

If they are going to take credit for the downfall of this, then they are to blame. They are to blame for the jump-the-gun mentality that what they find is wrong with no middle ground, no consciance to making the world a better plabce. No improving society in it. How is this improvement? How? By ending jobs? By embaressing people? By not helping at all?

Unfortunately, that's still a pretty huge number compared to, say, conservative blogs, or the Brit Hume show, or National Review... etc.

Tom, just by looking at that 25-54 demo for CBS Evening News, I'd have to think that Rush Limbaugh gets that on an average weekday. I was wondering if you had some insight into such a comparison.
