As to the explanation, I think #4 is a pretty good riposte on basic manners, EVEN IF you buy the idea that his friends conveniently called it a "wedding" registry, and even though that conveniently makes the gifts outside the purview of the laws involved. I said the jury's out, not that I hate the guy. I would love a fully satisfying explanation. He's not there yet. I forgot about those shenanigans. I got married 17 years ago and got various gifts (none of which were anything a guy would want). So, according to the Huckabee plan in 13 years we'll can ask for a bunch of other stuff. Garbage and classless. And politicians wonder why all people consider the great majority of them to be greedy SOB's. Even if your friends offer to set this goofy plan up decent people say "Hey, I really appreciate your friendship and realize this offer comes form the heart, but NO THANKS. Kids starting out get crap to get a house together. A house warming gift for adults shouldn't exceed a bottle of wine, a side dish (recommend a nice green bean casserole) or a desert dish.
