I'm not sure I'd give the communist Chinese the benefit of the doubt on this one. If they are becoming less militaristic, are they just concentrating more on economic nationalism? We have no idea what goes on within some of those factories, and I'm just not comfortable outsourcing more and more of America to communist China.

That's why I say there's reason to be concerned about the mixed bag.

Previous posts here have expressed alarm about the store allowing the ChiComs to recruit party members in the store and IIRC labor practices.

The TCS guy argues that Wal-Mart has helped make the Chicoms less militant and less in need of selling arms around the world. I'm less than convinced on that one.

Wal-Mart's low prices do save consumers a bundle, but I also have reservations about supporting a company that funds communist China. They import $18 billion worth of goods from China each year, which accounts for 10% of all U.S. imports from China.

Saving money for American consumers is well and good, but excuse me if I don't care about funding the communist Chinese government and their factories. Wal-Mart's joint venture with China is just too much for me.
