Funny Item of the Morning: Writers Blog Till They Drop
Mark picked up on this during last night’s TIB Radio broadcast led by the dynamic duo of Matt and Mark at Weapons of Mass Discussion (with yours truly sorta hangin’ around).
It’s from the New York Times’s Matt Richtel, about “the digital-era sweatshop“:
In Web World of 24/7 Stress, Writers Blog Till They Drop
They work long hours, often to exhaustion. Many are paid by the piece — not garments, but blog posts.
….. In the last few months, two among their ranks have died suddenly.
Yep. Death by blogging.
Mark says, “We are killing ourselves, for you!”
I’ll add, “So the least y’all can do as readers is be grateful. K?”
I think this NewsBusters commenter cut to the chase:
If you blog, you(’re) gonna Die!
Sounds like wishful thinking on the part of the NYT to me.

Tom, if bloggers were dying you woukld be on the top of the list with all the work you do.

I wonder if NYT noticed they run bits each day on hundreds of people most of whom don’t know what a blog is.
