Bahaha, you'll love this: http://newsosaur.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-close-to-default-is-your-paper.html

The Default O Matic from above article: http://bp3.blogger.com/_EkLOPCrR0fc/SF_rAZvxHKI/AAAAAAAAARw/lFv4OpVIrjw/s1600-h/defaultomatic.6.08.jpg

Back to the NYT, a nice one year graphic of their Class A stock price, notice the election year bounce from the primaries are all but gone:
<a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=NYT#chart8:symbol=nyt;range=1y;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined" rel="nofollow">HERE</a>

This nicely puts the whole of the NYT finances in perspective: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=NYT

What I find interesting is the ROE of the NYT: http://biz.yahoo.com/p/727conameu.html
How do they manage to keep the ROE up to 10.19%, the Price to Free Cash Flow at -37.47% and a net profit margin of -0.04%? Is the NYT literally eating itself alive?

I would say then the NYT is going to have a problem with creditors being more wary about losing their money. The AT was pointing out some problems a while ago regarding violating provisions of bond holders. http://www.americanthinker.com/2007/09/pinch_sulzbergers_achilles_hee.html **see update before fully drawing conclusion.

Yes Tom, the economy is in recession, i.e. two full consecuative quarters...for the MSM. cut backs, down sizing, lay offs... all the classic signs. I smell the blood in the water.
