Things I’d Like to Post About Today ….. (072108, Morning Closet Cleanout, Round 1)

Filed under: TILTpatBIDHAT — TBlumer @ 8:56 am

But I Don’t Have Any Time For:

(The clutter’s getting out of control, so it’s time for a major cleanout)

  • TaxProf thinks that the taxes proposed by the presidential candidate I refer to as “Mr. BOOHOO-OUCH” (Barack O-bomba Overseas Hussein “Obambi” Obama – Objectively Unfit Coddler of Haters) will hit blue states harder than red ones.
  • Lots has been written about Obama’s suggestion that “instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English,” Americans “need to make sure your child can speak Spanish” (I told you the closet was cluttered). Other than at Kaus, I haven’t seen much made of a Rasmussen poll result showing Americans rejecting that idea 83-13.
  • Metro Boston Transit Authority’s General Manager says — “Transit for thee but not for me. I’d rather be in my SUV.” Given his 60-mile commute, the fact that the SUV is a hybrid doesn’t compensate.
  • 12 Democrats face an assortment of corruption charges in Pennsylvania. You have to go to the link to “appreciate” the sheer audacity of the enterprise. This appears serious enough to potentially affect Obama’s ability to win a state that seems to be a must-have, and to be at least as damaging to Keystone State Dems as the entire Tom Noe enterprise was to the GOP in Ohio — and in a prez election year.
  • Following up on the previous item, this is where I make my periodic point that Ohio’s Worker’s Comp Bureau ultimately lost very little money from Noe’s handiwork — in contrast to what it lost because of Democrat contributor Mark Lay, who lost $216 million. Lay was recently convicted of “investment advisory fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud,” and sentenced to 12 years. Lay was also ordered to reimburse the state (cough, cough ….. ROTFLMAO) $213 million. That’s what, maybe 43,000 years worth of prison labor at $5,000 a year? Get to work, Mark.
  • How did this get ignored (HT Hot Air)? Guess who asked about how a movie scene was shot on Mt. Rushmore (”How did they get up there in the first place?” he asked ranger Wesley Jensen. “They didn’t. It was a movie set,” Jensen told him.)? Yup, the one and only “Mr. BOOHOO-OUCH” Obama. Comedians who complain that they can’t come up with funny material for this guy obviously aren’t trying very hard. Ann Althouse explored their lack of motivation last week.
  • Michelle Obama should be easy comedic pickings too. $600 earrings (HT Jennifer Rubin at Commentary)? How easy? Humor line A: Is her middle name really Leona? Humor line B: Better not get her anywhere near military procurement, or we’ll be paying $4,000 for hammers instead of $400. Those lines are better than half of the alleged jokes I’ve been hearing.
