Things I’d Like to Post About Today ….. (091008, Morning)

Filed under: TILTpatBIDHAT — Tom @ 9:33 am

But I Don’t Have Any Time For:

  • I’m glad someone is doing this — Charles/Charlie Martin’s Palin Rumors accumulation (HT Dean Barnett at the Weekly Standard blog) is, for the moment, the ad hoc place to go for info to deal with the media’s Palin pile-on. He’s up to 71 separate items; he also has a related Pajamas Media column. At the rate they’re coming, we may have to lock Mr. Martin in an Ethernet-enabled room and slide food under the door to make sure he has enough time to keep up. And no, I’m not going to deal with commenters who want to nitpick Mr. Martin here.
  • Nix’s after-action report from the Lebanon (OH) McCain-Palin rally yesterday is outstanding. Money quote: “Whatever star power she (Palin) has, it’s rubbing off on him. My guess is that he bought himself a tremendous amount of goodwill with your basic conservative voter, a denizen well represented in Warren County. The crowd did like her and now they want to like him.” Last time I checked, a boss choosing a successor who has more long-term potential than him was considered a good thing.
  • Seriously, how tone-deaf can someone — in this case, “The One” I refer to as “Mr. BOOHOO-OUCH” (Barack O-bomba Overseas HusseinObambiObama – Objectively Unfit Coddler of Haters) — be? This would be the same guy who condescendingly referred to a female reporter as “Sweetie.” In a way, I guess it’s consistent.
  • Meanwhile, Mr. BOOHOO-OUCH’s wife is playing the intellectual superiority card on Sarah Palin. A 5-letter word beginning with a “b” comes to mind.
  • More evidence from Brian Maloney (HT Michelle Malkin) that the left can’t win on its ideas, and intends to sue its opponents into submission instead. At some point, and I would say this is it, punishment from the bench forcing reimbursement of legal costs related to defending against frivolous lawsuits such as these is going to be necessary.

  1. You’ve insinuated that Barack Obama is sexist for a remark he didn’t direct at Ms. Palin, in a post where you indeed likened Michelle Obama to a female dog.

This new feminism thing isn’t coming easily to you, is it Tom?

  2. #1, the remark was from Ms. Obama, and you don’t know what word I was thinking of. Other choices besides the one you casually and without foundation assumed include at least the following:

    - banal
    - bored
    - broad (noun)
    - brash
    - brats (describing both of them)
    - batty

However, if you think likening Ms. Obama to a female dog in a comment is more appropriate than the list of other possible choices, be my guest, although your alignment with the new feminism would continue to be suspect — as is that of the prez candidate who calls reporters “sweetie.”

Again, you’re distracting for the sake of distracting.

  3. No question Nix Guy is right. Palin is rubbing off on McCain. You can see it in every speech.
