Election Eve Live Blog

Wherein your humble servant comments on and/or links to stories that haven’t appeared here that could have, and to recall some important ones that did appear in previous months. Feel free to comment, but I won’t be posting any of them, or even looking at them, until after midnight (e-mails are fine, and I’ll be reading those from time to time). There’s too much catching up to do …..

* * * *

11:55 p.m. – Here’s the wrap — Check out Tall Cotton’s explanation of why he, despite Barack Obama’s accusation, is not “selfish.”

11:45 p.m. - Is anyone else as unimpressed by the audience Obama pulled in his last infomercial? Perot got 17% in his last one in 1996 and got 6% of the vote. Someone supposedly getting nine times as many voters should have pulled more.

11:25 p.m. – Hmm — “Carl Cameron: Optimism growing inside McCain camp.” Of course they’ll say that, but it seems to pass the intuition test.

11:10 p.m. - The Prowler (HT Ace) found that “Senior aides to Sen. Barack Obama and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick were aware that Obama’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango, was living in the United States illegally and in a South Boston public-housing project, and were monitoring her at the request of senior Obama campaign officials. …. The Obama campaign has denied knowing anything about Onyango’s illegal status or her poor financial situation.” Oh, stop it.

10:40 p.m. – I don’t understand why I have to go back through so many layers to get to something Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs recorded and posted this morning. Good news: Jake Tapper at ABC gave her credit. Bad news: Politico didn’t, and Rush didn’t. What’s that all about? I hope it’s “just” laziness.

Okay, here’s the bombshell: NY congressman Jerrold Nadler told Pamela the following (watch the whole vid, because there’s a lot more — Nadler goes through a damning chronology that Stanley Kurtz could have recited):

Nadler is asked how Obama could sit in Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church for 500 Sundays listening to the anti-semitic, anti-American diatribes:

“This is not going to be complimentary to Senator Obama ….. he didn’t have the political courage to make a statement and walk out.”

Gee, everyone on the right who has said that has been called a RAAAAAAAcist.

10:20 p.m. - This YouTube (”Obama Civilian Security”) is more than a little troubling. Does anyone have a benign explanation or justification for this? I sure don’t.

9:20 p.m. – Even discounting that the link is from the NY Times, it looks like Massachusetts’s attempt at income-tax repeal is going down. The fact that RomneyCare has turned the health care industry in the Bay State into a group of de facto state employees should not be overlooked as a factor if the measure goes down in flames. But if it surprises and gets into the mid-40s while losing, it will be a clear signal that John Kasich, if he runs for governor and is serious about fixing Ohio, should push income tax repeal in Ohio hard.

9:15 p.m. – Sentence of the night, from IBDeditorials.com, making the one point that has been understated in Obama’s coal-bankrupting comments — “Barack Obama’s plan to bankrupt anyone building a new coal plant prioritizes global warming myths over U.S. energy independence.”

9:00 p.m. – I never got around to noting the follow-up work done on Obama’s “bankrupt coal” comments. Captain Ed did — “Obama: I’ll make energy prices ’skyrocket.’” Yes he will.

8:55 p.m. – Damage dishonestly done, now comes the “never mind” — “Breaking: Palin exonerated by Personnel Board.” I say they knew this would be the result all along. Creeps.

8:35 p.m. – From yesterdayEither they’re bluffing, last-minute turnout-prodding, or McCain-Palin is lining up for the winning field goal from about 30 yards with time about to expire.

8:30 p.m. – Michelle Malkin — “How Obama blocked the wealth generators in Pueblo, Colorado.”

8:00 p.m. – You stay classy, Philly.comJohn Baer asks, “Is McCain banking on the ‘cracker factor’ in Pa.?” No, Mr. Baer, he’s banking on the years of Democratic politicians insulting Keystone State voters finally generating a backlash. What a jerk.

7:20 p.m. – In the wake of the exposure of Obama’s “bankrupting new coal plants” comments yesterday, thereby bankrupting the coal industry in short order, Sarah Palin’s presence in Marietta in southeastern Ohio was, well, Sarah-dipitous.

6:50p.m. – SOBer Cornell McCleary opens up the festivities by sending me this link to the Hill, indicating that cops around the country are beefing up security in case of rioting, which could happen regardless fo who wins, and how — “Democratic strategists and advocates for black voters say they understand officers wanting to keep the peace, but caution that excessive police presence could intimidate voters.” I don’t believe there’s a snowball’s chance in Hades of anyone being intimidated out of voting (of all the ACORN-generated lies out there, that one is perhaps the most pathetic). But if it did happen, given the rampant cheating and attempted cheating that’s occurring, my feelings could be summarized in two words — Poetic Justice.
