How does the IBD editorial in any way “refute” the article I linked to? IBD only confirms that Bush was warned, and that he and the Republican-controlled Congress failed to act.

#1, fears of being accused of racism (see Fred and Fan hearings of 2004 or so — still doesn’t justify not acting, but damage was done by then anyway; AP knows it, and pretends there was no prior history), and yes.

IBDeditorials.com nuked AP’s report quite well — “It was a Democratic debacle, from start to finish.”

It’s amazing how I can refute stuff like this so easily. Why don’t you do the dirty work from here on out instead of just blindly accepting AP’s crap?

If it was Clinton’s rigorous enforcement of the CRA that lead to our housing and banking crises, why didn’t Bush just stop enforcing the CRA “like never before?” Bush had 7+ years, and he certainly had warning:
