Written and submitted on Thursday, it went up Christmas Day here at Pajamas Media.
It will go up here at BizzyBlog on Monday morning (link won’t work until then) after the blackout expires.
America’s stubbornly liberal leaders keep millions looking for work.
My sub-head, which will accompany the BizzyBlog post on Monday:
Millions remain unemployed and underemployed. It’s largely the stubborn left’s making.
This economy, including the millions of unemployed who are needlessly suffering, is theirs, and essentially has been since mid-2008, when Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Harry Reid inaugurated the POR (Pelosi-Obama-Reid) Economy and created the conditions that led to double-digit unemployment.
As the column points out, the current seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 9.8% is only 0.3% lower than its 10.1% peak in October 2009. The administration’s insistence on sticking to so-called “stimulus” policies long since discredited twice — FDR-1930s; Japan-1990s — before this administration tried them a third time beginning in early 2009 is irresponsible, and is condemning millions of Americans to long-term unemployment and underemployment. As I noted in the column, “It’s almost impossible to believe that this genuinely bothers them, because if it did, they’d try something that works.”
Put more succinctly: They put on a good show, but they don’t care. What they care about is power and the control they can exercise with that power. If they can convince the hordes of the unemployed that their situation is really the fault of the previous administration’s policies even though it objectively isn’t (even if you could make a case, which you can’t, that Bush admin policies caused their problem, the Obama admin’s “stimulus” efforts have done nothing to remedy it), so much the better.
PJM edited out the final phrase I submitted. That is their perogative, and there are no hard feelings over the fact that they did. But at my blog I can tell you what that phrase was. I believe you’ll be seeing it here again in the next couple of years. In regards to the Obama administration’s economic regime, it applies perfectly:
“Party of Compassion” my a**.”
