LiveAction’s Planned Parenthood Stings: Three States, Six Locations

Full footage of all visits is here.

The latest (direct YouTube): “Bronx, NY Planned Parenthood Staffer Tells “Pimp” He Can Pose As Guardian To Get Tax Payer Funded Services For Underage Sex Workers” —

Apparently, both ABC and NBC believe that an organization’s widespread willingness to make pimps’ lives easier by providing “reproductive health services,” including abortion, to underage girls under their control is not news.

From PP’s perverted perspective, the worst part of the video is its ending:

UPDATE, Feb. 10: I know it’s hard to believe that a group of pre-born baby killers wouldn’t tell the truth, but Planned Parenthood is claiming that their workers “did not hear the words ‘sex work’ or ‘sex worker’ uttered by the actors. As you’ll see above and as detailed at this LiveAction.org update, the term “sex work” was used twice and there are five other clear allusions to it.

Planned Parenthood is also claiming that “these tapes are clearly doctored and can’t be trusted.” Putting the irony of the term “doctored” aside for a moment, the raw footage from two separate cameras is at a different LiveAction.org link.

What a Tangled Webb: The News, A Reminder, Analysis, and A Comment

Filed under: Taxes & Government — Tom @ 2:18 pm

The News, via Politico:

Virginia Democratic Senator Jim Webb plans to announce today that he won’t seek reelection, the Senator confirmed Wednesday.

Webb appeared likely to face a rematch with former Senator George Allen, whom he beat in a bruising 2006 contest. He had expressed ambivalence about the prospect of another run, and has said he never planned a life in politics.

A Reminder: Webb authored a Wall Street Journal op-ed that more than likely alienated him from so-called progressives while being incredibly hypocritical –

Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege
America still owes a debt to its black citizens, but government programs to help all ‘people of color’ are unfair. They should end.

Where should we go from here? Beyond our continuing obligation to assist those African-Americans still in need, government-directed diversity programs should end.

Nondiscrimination laws should be applied equally among all citizens, including those who happen to be white. The need for inclusiveness in our society is undeniable and irreversible, both in our markets and in our communities. Our government should be in the business of enabling opportunity for all, not in picking winners. It can do so by ensuring that artificial distinctions such as race do not determine outcomes.

Memo to my fellow politicians: Drop the Procrustean policies and allow harmony to invade the public mindset. Fairness will happen, and bitterness will fade away.

Analysis: Of course, Webb was right. But it’s clear to me, especially after seeing a parade of Ohio lefty bloggers, even a couple who are typically somewhat sensible, prostrate themselves in 2008 before the false meme of “white privilege” and use it as the supposed argument-ender as to why electing an inexperienced, petulant guy who isn’t even African-American to the most powerful office in the land would be a great thing, that Webb’s party would not tolerate such a violation of its identity politics-driven code.

It’s too early to know for sure, but based on what’s known, it doesn’t seem like the Left would have primaried him. But Politico’s piece notes that Webb’s financial situation was not strong, and wasn’t likely to get much stronger. That lack of support is probably all Webb needed to know to conclude that he’d be left high and dry in a state returning to its red roots after wandering off in 2008.

A Comment: But, as was the case when Webb’s article appeared, I’m not going to let him off the hook just because he expressed noble thoughts. Quoting from that July post, the problem is that when it mattered he didn’t follow through with them:

(There are) three obvious questions which Mr. Webb must confront:

  1. Where were you when your 2006 election opponent was being mercilessly smeared by an agenda-driven press over totally bogus charges of racism?
  2. Who did you vote for in the 2008 presidential election?
  3. How many white privilege myth-assuming minority set-aside and reverse-discriminating provisions contained in Barack Obama’s bogus stimulus plan, statist health care plan, and so-called financial services plan have you enabled with your three “yes” votes …?

The answers, I believe, are:

  1. “I did nothing, or almost nothing.”
  2. “Racial Greivance Monger in Chief Barack Obama.”
  3. Lots and lots,” clearly totaling “dozens.” One example: The financial services bill ” creates the Offices of Minority and Women Inclusion in at least 20 federal financial services agencies.”

So long, Jim. Let’s hope Virginians elect someone who walks the nice-sounding talk.

Major Media Miss: Muslim Brotherhood’s Stated Goal Has Long Been ‘To Seize U.S.’

UPDATE: The full text of the referenced Dallas Morning News item, courtesy of Rich Noyes at the Media Research Center, is here (posted for fair use and discussion purposes).

While looking for something else, I accidentally stumbled across a 2007 item in my blog’s archives that makes the current soft media treatment of the Muslim Brotherhood even more outrageous than it already appears.

In September of that year, the Dallas Morning News, covering the Holy Land Foundation terrorist funding trial, directly described what had been learned about the Muslim Brotherhood and its goals — not in Egypt, but the in U.S. (link is to excerpt at my blog; DMN article is no longer available at Dallas.com or in the ProQuest library database):

Muslim Brotherhood’s papers detail plan to seize U.S.

Amid the mountain of evidence released in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, the most provocative has turned out to be a handful of previously classified evidence detailing Islamist extremists’ ambitious plans for a U.S. takeover.

A knot of terrorism researchers say the memos and audiotapes, many translated from Arabic and containing detailed strategies by the international Islamist group the Muslim Brotherhood, are proof that extremists have long sought to replace the Constitution with Shariah, or Islamic law.

Fortunately, the indispensable Sweetness & Light excerpted further (bold is mine):

The documents – introduced in recent weeks as part of the prosecution’s case in the trial of the now defunct Holy Land Foundation and five of its organizers – lay out the Brotherhood’s plans in chillingly stark terms.

A 1991 strategy paper for the Brotherhood, often referred to as the Ikhwan in Arabic, found in the Virginia home of an unindicted co-conspirator in the case, describes the group’s U.S. goals, referred to as a “civilization-jihadist process.”

“The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions,” it states. This process requires a “mastery of the art of ‘coalitions,’ the art of ‘absorption’ and the principles of ‘cooperation.’”

“Coalitions,” “absorption,” and “cooperation” are clearly not intended to be sincere exercises based on goodwill.

Now that the Obama administration has agreed that the Muslim Brotherhood deserves a role in Egypt’s new government, I suspect you won’t be seeing much mention of this, if any, in the establishment press. A January 31 item at the Associated Press pictured here describes the group as a “deeply conservative Islamist organization.” Yeah, except for the “Islamist” part, almost like Tea Partiers, or something. Zheesh.

In a non-fawning media environment, someone would ask the questions Eileen Toplansky at American Thinker, who also exhaustively recounted the Brotherhood’s history and intentions, framed on Monday:

It is now time to test Obama’s moral compass. He needs to be directly asked if he believes the Muslim Brotherhood is a threat to the United States. If he affirms that it is, then he needs to be forcefully questioned as to why he has not taken more concerted steps to thwart their growth in the United States.

If, on the other hand, the 44th president states that the Muslim Brotherhood is not a threat, then it is quite clear where his true allegiance rests. American vulnerability would be publicly exposed putting us at grave risk.

If Obama cannot or will not answer this simple question, then his neutral stance also speaks volumes and will embolden the terrorism of the Muslim Brotherhood.

It is the Rubicon moment for this man. It is the wake-up call for the rest of us.

Unfortunately, it’s only a wake-up call if someone sounds an alarm that will be widely heard. The lack of even the most rudimentary media vigilance, combined with an inexplicable reluctance on the part of Obama’s political opponents to speak out forcefully on matters such as these, would seem to ensure that any alarms raised will either be muted or only known to the few who are relatively engaged.

In this post, I excerpted a Dallas Morning News item no longer available.

For fair use and discussion purposes, the entire item, obtained by Rich Noyes at the Media Research Center, follows.

I have turned off comments here; comments are welcome for about a week at the primary post.

Sometime between when I excerpted in September of 2007 and now, the title of the article changed from “Muslim Brotherhood’s papers detail plan to seize U.S.” to what you will see below:

Toyota, meet Ray Donavan:

(In 1985) Reagan administration labor secretary Ray Donavan and six others were indicted in Bronx County, New York, and accused of fraud and larceny in connection with a construction project for a New York City Subway tunnel. Donovan was forced to resign from his post, but when the trial concluded more than two years later, he and his co-defendants had been acquitted of every last one of the hundred counts against them. Having endured the expense and emotional upheaval of this ordeal, Donovan famously asked, “Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?”

If such an office existed, Toyota’s U.S. operations would lining up at the window today. From the Associated Press:

Electronic Flaws Did Not Cause Toyota Problems, U.S. Says

The Obama administration’s investigation into Toyota safety problems found no electronic flaws to account for reports of sudden, unintentional acceleration and other safety problems. Government investigators said Tuesday the only known cause of the problems are mechanical defects that were fixed in previous recalls.

Recall that the Associated Press’s Ken Thomas was a willing participant in what was from all appearances an orchestrated media, government, and trial lawyer pile-on a year ago. Anyone with the most basic understanding of Japanese culture could tell that assertions that the company “bragged” and “boasted” about saving money on recalls were bogus. Bragging is a strict cultural taboo; anyone who engages in it in a business setting can kiss their career good-bye. News reports gleefully quoted NHTSA official Olivia Alair, who “just so happened” to be a former Obama campaign Regional Director in Ohio who narrowly avoided a felony prosecution for illegal voting-related activity in Ohio in 2008.

So where does Toyota go to get its media-enabled Obama administration-smeared reputation back?

At PalWatch.org: “The Muslim Brotherhood – in its own words” (HT JPost):

National goal: Islamic world domination

Means: Jihad – a mandatory religious duty … “The symbol of the [Muslim] Brotherhood is the book of Allah [the Quran] between two swords. The swords symbolize Jihad and the force that protects the truth represented in Allah’s book.”

Timing: Don’t rush, prepare carefully for Jihad

Personal goal: Aspire to Shahada – Death for Allah

Jihad against Israel

At the LA Times (HT Hot Air), January 31 (note that the browser window title is “U.S. Sees a Role for Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt”):

U.S. open to a role for Islamists in new Egypt government
But the Muslim Brotherhood must renounce violence and support democracy, the White House says.

That’s like asking Christians to renounce their Bible. It’s not going to happen.

Temple of Mut did a word-use count on President Obama’s State of the Union speech a couple of weeks ago:

from the advanced script of the State of the Union — I = 46; me = 4; my = 5

Okay, let’s build on that a bit. I reviewed the ABC transcript and came up with: I = 47; me = 4; my (referring to himself, not quoting others) = 3.

Compare that to Ronald Reagan’s January 1983 State of the Union speech: I = 31; me = 8; my = 1; myself = 1.

And this is where Obama was trying to mimic Reagan.

Let’s look at the 2010 SOTU, from the White House web site: I = 72; me = 10; my = 10; myself = 0; forms of “America” = 74.

Whether or not he’s trying to be someone he isn’t, the Punk President personifies the type of person pilloried in this Beatle Song.

“Home-Price Drop Leaves 27% of U.S. Owners Underwater on Loans, Zillow Says

The home price drop has continued because the economy has, on net, gone nowhere since the POR (Pelosi-Obama-Reid) Economy began in roughly June of 2008.

The economy has, on net, gone nowhere (that’s right, nowhere) because Pelosi, Obama, and Reid chose bogus, historically-disproven economic “stimulus” to revive the economy (this assumes that they really wanted it to revive, which remains an open question) instead of historically proven tax cuts (which, properly targeted, probably only needed to be about 1/3 of the size of the failed “stimulus”), regulatory relief, and other freedom-enhancing measures. Additionally, the administration’s HAMP (Home Affordable Modification Program) has done nothing but HAMPer what would have been a rough but preferable pullout from the Democrat-driven housing debacle.

Home prices would have bottomed out long ago and would now be in the midst of recovering nicely if the administration had employed the historically proven economic strategies.

Positivity: Off-duty firefighter hailed a hero after dramatic rescue

Filed under: Positivity — Tom @ 5:58 am

From the UK:

Friday, 04 February 2011

An off-duty firefighter has been hailed a hero following the dramatic rescue of a pensioner from a blazing property fire in Tenby.

Lee Simmons, a retained firefighter at Tenby Fire Station, and a Community Fire Safety Officer at Pembrokeshire County Command Headquarters, was the first at the scene of the house fire, after noticing the flames and entering the property himself to recover the elderly occupant.

Lee spotted the fire in Newell Hill at around 2 pm on Saturday. He entered the smoke logged property, found the elderly and partially disabled occupant, and brought him out safely.

He instructed neighbours to call the fire service. When two fire appliances from Tenby Fire Station arrived, they were faced with a severe fire in the living room. Crews wearing breathing apparatus successfully extinguished the blaze using a hose reel jet.

Lee said: “I was making my way home when I noticed smoke coming out of the house, and I could tell straight away that it wasn’t a chimney fire.

“I know the elderly man who lives at the address, so I entered the house and pushed my way into the living room because some things had fallen against the door. The fire was already well developed by then, with flames up to the roof and coming across the ceiling causing the plastic ceiling tiles to melt.

“I looked through the smoke and found the occupant where he had fallen on the floor in the corner. I put my hands under his arms, and dragged him out to the front door. I saw the neighbours in the street and asked them to call the fire service straight away.”

Pembrokeshire County Commander Steve Bryant said: “Lee Simmons is a credit to the service, and his behaviour is characteristic of the sort of quick-thinking and bravery exhibited by our staff. His rapid and courageous response was instrumental in stopping this serious house fire from becoming even more catastrophic. ….
