Latest Obama Fundraising Letter Asks Donors to Taunt Republicans When Donating (Possibly Illegally)

This one definitely does not go into the “how to persuade people that your cause is right” file.

Obama For America’s latest attempt to beg people to contribute $3 to enter a drawing for a dinner with POTUS and FLOTUS has a pathetic, insufferable, punkish and privacy-invading twist, wherein you get the opportunity to tell a Republican acquaintance that you just gave money to the Obama campaign:

Just an aside, Julianna — Someone putting up a Mitt Romney sign is probably not a conservative.

Geez, these people are more obsessed with birthers than the birthers.

Here’s part of what you see if you follow the link:

Wow … we’re supposed to be impressed that someone gave three whole dollars to win a contest where the prize is a dinner with Barack and Michelle Obama.

I’m guessing that second prize is two dinners with Barack and Michelle Obama.

Also note that there is no reason to believe that the emails of those being taunted aren’t being illegally collected for some other purpose. They certainly aren’t being provided voluntarily by the taunted party. Where’s the FTC when you need ‘em?

If a Republican or conservative president or candidate did this, the press would properly be criticizing the utter boorishness and privacy invasion involved. As it is, expect stone silence, as was the case when Nancy Pelosi invoked the wonderfulness of the Occupy movement in a fundraising letter.

  2. What a clever (illegal) way to sidestep the campaign finance law contribution restrictions. Since you’re already misidentifying yourself, what’s wrong with doing it a thousand times more to double or triple your campaign limit contributions. In fact, just to beat the drudgery of having to repeatedly enter information, some clever hacker (read – Obama campaign staffer programming department) could devise a program to sift through a mailing list and draw the $3 from an over the limit donor’s bank account or even a foreign entity. Mailing lists are cheaply had for any demographic for cents per name. What’s paying 5 cents for a $3 donation? Obama will get that $1 billion war chest in no time flat. In fact, I’ll bet the same group who made the decision to disable the credit card donation ID program also came up with this little scheme.

Gee thanks Obama, honest government at it’s best. And you’ll remember that the election commission (or whomever regulates these things) refused to fine or otherwise prosecute Obama or his campaign staff for those illegal contributions from foreigners due to disabling the credit card ID so there is absolutely no consequence to Obama. You can commit the crime and do NO time. America, a great country or what?

  3. How utterly ridiculous and sickening. Obama for America has been the most disingenuous, polemic, arrogant and nasty campaign arm of any recent President. Make donations to Obama and then rub it in the face of your friends if they disagree with him and his and your politics. Yeah, that’ll unite a divided country! Obama, The Great Unificator!

By the way, far more libs are truthers (or as I call them Troofers) then conservatives are bithers. And Troothism is far more insidious and nasty then Birthirism. If Obama for America(‘s Destruction) really wants to make some dough, it should offer truther mugs to it’s constituents.
