Positivity: 8-year-old saves 18 in blaze

A GIRL of eight saved 18 people — including 14 other children — from a house fire.

Quick-thinking Amy O’Toole smelled smoke and found bedding ablaze in an upstairs bedroom.

She raised the alarm and then helped to see her mum, dad, uncle and gran to safety.

Amy also helped to rescue four brothers aged 17 to three and seven sisters aged from 15 to one — plus three teenage girl pals staying over.

Sister Lauren, 15, said: “She’s a hero. She acted quickly and so calmly.”

Gran Carol Leech, 54, said: “The house is badly damaged but it could have been so much worse.”

Amy insisted she was just doing what she had learned at school and added: “My brothers and sisters would have done the same.” …
