I’m Not Rooting for Notre Dame Either

Filed under: News from Other Sites — Tom @ 9:29 am

The disgraceful behavior of current Irish football coach Brian Kelly when he left the University of Cincinnati several years ago was bad enough, but still (I suppose) a matter of opinion and potential forgivability.

This isn’t — and please don’t whine about the fact that the column’s author is a lefty feminist. Argue on the facts.

UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.: Here is the underlying investigative report.

  1. All I can say is, I have seen the effects on someone falsely or let’s say questionably accused. This is to say nothing about the validity of each of these cases. In fact, inaccurate accusations weaken legit cases. But look at any divorce. If you only heard one side, you would inevitably think the other person is a scoundrel. Look at the Clarence Thomas hearings. This is why I feel these cases should not be adjudicated in the arena of articles such as this one.

  2. I think you need to read her piece in the National Catholic Reporter (linked at WaPo). Whatever happened led to a suicide, not just chilled relationships or opportunism.

  3. Then you would have to say that the outcome proves the case, which is fraught with error. I have seen multiple cases of false accusation where the pathology was such that it was argued that it HAD to be true. She may truly be a victim. All I am saying is we don’t know.

  4. Thanks for linking this the only time it will appear in a national publication. So ce it doesn’t involve Ohio State, no one at ESPN will talk about this.

  5. But the reason we don’t know is that from all appearances the police and the administration didn’t do even the most basic things necessary to find out. The Occam’s Razor default is that they didn’t want to know, and arguably wanted the trail to go cold.

There are also the threatening texts, and the chilling example of the coed who wouldn’t come forward because of what happened to someone who tried to. There is something very sick going on here (and to be clear, on many other college campuses around the country), and I’m not going to get out the pompoms and pretend there isn’t.
