Initial jobless claims once again benefited mightily from seasoning. This past week’s 330K (with no adjustment of the prior week’s 335K) was based on an unseasoned 437K. Last year’s seasoned 372K was based on an unseasoned 417K.

And here I thought the election was over.

Just posted. The MLK holiday disparity between years muddies up things a bit, but doesn’t fully explain why raw claims are up. If they’re up again next week, look out below.
