11:25 p.m.: Peer-pressure statists are apparently feeling more confident these days — “If You Send Your Kid to Private School, You Are a Bad Person.” Specifically, “Not bad like murderer bad—but bad like ruining-one-of-our-nation’s-most-essential-institutions-in-order-to-get-what’s-best-for-your-kid bad.” It’s no stretch at all to infer that Ms. Benedikt feels the same way about homeschoolers.
So it’s the private-schooling and homeschooling parents’ fault that the public schools are failing. If you people weren’t doing that, the public schools would be just fine. So the schools should be run just like single-payer healthcare would be (that’s her specific argument).
Hate to break it to you, Allison, but parents’ first duties are to the well-being of their kids.
By the way, Allison, direct your ire at President Obama, who sends his kids to Sidwell Friends instead of DC’s public schools, the next time you see him.
11:35 p.m.: Grace Marie Turner, at Forbes — It’s Fact, Not Anecdote, That ObamaCare Is Turning Us Into A Part-Time Nation.” Progressive/leftist history tells us that a lot of them consider this a feature and not a bug.
