Latest PJ Media Column (‘Obamacare’s ‘Cool Calculator,’ Part 1: Work Disincentives Like We’ve Never Seen Before’) Is Up

Okay, I don’t do this often.

In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever done this, but I’m going to do it now:

If you’re reading this, it’s really, really, really

important that you read my latest PJ Media column.

No exceptions, OK?

I appreciate PJ Media’s reviewers getting through the column so quickly in the circumstances.

The column will appear here at BizzyBlog on Wednesday afternoon (link won’t work until then) after the blackout expires.

I’m also going to do something I suggested others do in the column, namely embedding the “cool calculator” found at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s website lauded by Barack Obama’s shock troops at Organizing for Action.

The calculator really shows why Obamacare will be a complete economic and social disaster if allowed to happen.

Over the next several days, I’ll cite several examples, complete with screen grabs, for those who want to get to specifics even beyond those noted in today’s column (as well as Part 2 when it goes up, hopefully soon) without having to kick the tires.

So here’s the model (the white space seen when you do that allows for certain items to expand if necessary; each result will open in a separate window or tab unless someone can advise me as to how to prevent that from happening):

  1. Well, I used the calculator. I am under $10k in income, the result:

Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014: $6,730 per year (which equals 75.62% of your household income and covers 100% of the overall premium)

Cheapest plan for me in CA is $216/mo (30% of my annual income). $3500 deductible, 50% co-ins. This is about as close to catastrophic insurance as I can get.

CA has medicare expansion, I will probably qualify. Though I am not planning on signing up for anything at this time (or by 2014).
