Some ‘Stumble’: On (Not Really) Last Day For Signing Up at, Users Without Accounts Can’t Create Them

The Associated Press has a breaking news update: If you want to apply for Obamacare at today and you’ve never set up an account, forget about doing so for the time being.

The update is is running under this morning’s old headline (“HEALTH CARE WEBSITE STUMBLES ON LAST DAY”), begging the question as to when a “stumble” turns into “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” (HT to several tweeters):


Note how Ricardo Alonso-Zalivar implies in the breaking news that the problem is volume-related, when the full text of his morning report, which was still there at the time of this post, indicates that it’s not.

Note that the government has said they’ve identified the problem, but not when they will fix it.

Except that there really is no buzzer, given the scope of the announced deadline extension.

Will all the clowns who have said the web site is “fixed” during the past couple of months please stand up?
