Irresponsible: Old Media Outlets Release Info on Where Ferguson Officer Lives

Boy, it’s a good thing that we don’t have any bloggers, Twitter amateurs or Facebook fulminators going off half-cocked and helping people find out where Darren Wilson lives. Wilson is the Ferguson, Missouri police officer who reportedly shot and killed Mike Brown. I mean, if anybody knew that or could figure it out, his safety and that of any family members would be in jeopardy.

Oh, wait a minute. The New Media newbies to (please bow) “journalism” haven’t had to lift a finger to do that, because supposedly responsible journalists have done it all for them (bolds are mine; links are in original):

Media Draws Map to Home of Ferguson Police Officer Who Shot Mike Brown

CNN broadcast a report Friday that showed the house, including the street number, of the Ferguson police officer who police say shot Mike Brown. The officer has been in hiding due to death threats since the shooting last Saturday. His name, Darren Wilson, was just released Friday morning.

Another news outlet apologized for broadcasting video of Wilson’s home while others have virtually drawn a map to Wilson’s house for those bent on vengeance.

Yahoo News named the community Wilson where Wilson resides and published a photograph of the officer.

The UK Daily Mail also named the communityposted photos of the officer and gave a description of the house.

USA Today also named the community and reported a local police presence.

The Washington Post named the street where Wilson lives.

In the video report, CNN reporter Ed Lavandera is seen walking in the street where Wilson lives. The CNN video shows a wide view of Wilson’s house and then pans around the street to show its relative position in the neighborhood. While Lavandera does not name the street, he gives its approximate location.

The people who have willfully released this dangerous information which is really irrelevant to the facts and circumstances of the shooting are the ones New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer want to give special protections “from subpoenas and other legal requirements that may expose their confidential sources.” New Media bloggers, tweeters and Facebookers? They’re on their own.

Based on the above, maybe it should be the other way around.

  1. After reviewing the drawing of the six gun shot wounds in Michael Brown’s body, it is obvious that officer Wilson didn’t follow police training on shooting a suspect. To most people putting 6 bullets in someone seems excessive. Protocol for firing upon a suspect once they are determined to be a bodily threat to the officer or another requires the officer to fire upon the center of mass, i.e. the chest area for the express purpose of shooting to kill.

Of the potential 6 bullet entry points, 4 were on the right arm and two were in the head. It is obvious and the family’s medical examiner pointed out that the kill shot(s) were the two bullet penetrations in the head area. This leads to the conclusion that officer Wilson violated shooting protocol by NOT shooting in the center of mass but attempted to wound Michael Brown instead and then when realizing the first 4 shots didn’t have the intended effect of startling and convincing Brown to stop charging him, he had no choice but to shoot Brown in the face. Brown was heard by a witness to say to officer Wilson, “you’re not going to shoot me.” repeatedly as he taunted and then charged at him.

Officer Wilson’s error was failing to shoot to kill at the onset of the Michael Brown’s attack. The liberal race baiting narrative has collapsed. Just like with Trayvon Martin, the family put out a picture of a much younger Michael Brown than the 6 ft 4 in 295 pound mountain he was. Just as with Trayvon Martin, the MSM sought to profit off the increased ratings generated for their flagging news operations by hyping a race story when in fact, no race story existed at the outset. Now it is a race story, of Blacks exhibiting bigotry against the Police (Blue). Obama as with the Gates affair has injected himself and essentially said “I don’t have all the facts, but the police acted stupidly.” Obama has once again diminished the office of the President by his craven indirect bigotry.

  2. CNN Confirms Bombshell Account Of Ferguson Shooting: Brown Attacked Officer, Tried To Take His Gun, Shot When He “Bum Rushed” Wilson…

Some provocateurs have some explaining to do, the facts don’t fit the narrative so either double down on the narrative or let the issue drop. Let’s hope the liberal race baiters double down as this will completely turn off even the low information crowd sealing the Democrat’s fate in November. We need a thorough repudiation of Obama and his racist cadre.

  3. dscott must be deluded beyond belief–has he ever fired a weapon rapidly under stress? he assumes that the shots which hit the “Gentle Giant” were aimed at his head and arm. I guarantee that if dscott were standing with a pistol facing a300-lb giant rushing at him, he might well aim center mass and hit elsewhere.

  4. I’ll let dscott handle that. I would suggest referencing your own possible actions and not try to assume what dscott would do regarding what you would “guarantee.”

  5. Now we have more info on what happened to the police officer who was INJURED by Michael Brown BEFORE he was shot.

BREAKING REPORT: Officer Darren Wilson Suffered “Orbital Blowout Fracture to Eye Socket” During Mike Brown Attack

Given this new information on the officer’s injury, it appears he could not be expected to receive high marks for hitting anything let alone a moving target. It is fortunate for the officer that he was able to hit anything. Clearly the officer could not be expected to hit anything reliably let alone try to wing Brown in a non lethal manner.

  6. Your turn, Mr. Cunningham.
