Positivity: Gun store owner stops suspicious sale, prompts arrest of local man

A gun store owner in Orleans County prevented a suspicious gun purchase, leading to a Friday arrest.

Police say a gun store owner alerted authorities to the suspicious actions of a local man after he was denied a gun purchase for refusing to fill out a required background check form. Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputies say John Klotzbach asked a female third party to buy a shotgun for him after he was turned away. The straw purchase was uncovered when the gun store owner noticed the female wanted the exact same shotgun Klotzbach asked for and drove in the same vehicle Klotzbach had used.

As deputies investigated Klotzbach, they say they located a loaded sawed off shotgun in his possession, prompting his arrest and charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth degree conspiracy. …
