Positivity: Gov. Brownback confirmed as international religious freedom ambassador

Jan 25, 2018 / 04:03 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) was narrowly confirmed as the ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom Thursday. The Senate voted 49-49, along party lines, and the tie was broken by Vice President Mike Pence.

On Twitter, Brownback tweeted his appreciation to President Donald Trump, Pence, and everyone in the Senate who voted to confirm. He said he was “looking forward” to his new role and that he will work “hard for the American people and religious freedom around the world.” …

‘Moderate’ Dem Donor on MSNBC: ‘Shut the Government Down,’ ‘Have Brass Balls’

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle interviewed Stephen Cloobeck, “a big-time Democratic donor,” on Thursday. At one point, she characterized Cloobeck, the former Chairman of Diamond resorts, as “in the middle,” i.e., supposedly moderate. He sure didn’t come across that way.

Shutdown Deal Has Obamacare-Related Tax Cuts; AP’s Gordon Is Not Pleased

The Associated Press reported early Thursday that the bill which ended the government shutdown contains Obamacare-related tax cuts, indicating that Republicans got even more of what they’ve wanted as a condition for ending the government shutdown. The AP’s Marcy Gordon seemed quite unhappy about all of this, as she whined about a projected increase in budget deficits that isn’t even a rounding error.
