Will Media Cover Obama ‘Wants to Know Everything’ Page-Strzok Text?

An early Wednesday morning Fox News report may finally force into the open a question which the press should have begun asking long ago: Concerning the pre-election investigation of Hillary Clinton and the pre- and post-election investigations of now-President Donald Trump, what did President Barack Obama know and when did he know it? The latest development isn’t a Fox invention; instead, it’s a September 2, 2016 text message between demoted FBI agents and paramours Lisa Page and Peter Strzok saying that “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.”

The context of the message, per Fox:

The message, from Page to Strzok, was among thousands of texts between the lovers reviewed by Fox News …

Page wrote to Strzok on Sept. 2, 2016, about prepping (then-FBI Director James) Comey because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” According to a newly released Senate report, this text raises questions about Obama’s personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation.

Fox managed to find this text, and the rest of the media didn’t — or worse, others in the media have known and failed to report it. This Page-Strzok text may also explain why the FBI falsely claimed that many months of  text messages had been destroyed.

Given the text’s date, it’s also plausible that Obama also wanted “to know everything” about the FBI’s and Department of Justice’s contemporaneous Trump-Russia investigation.

Barack Obama’s name has been absent from virtually all coverage of the Clinton and Trump-Russia investigations. If the circumstances involved a Republican or conservative presidential administration, “what did he know and when?” would have become a press obsession almost three years ago, and would have continually grown in intensity.

Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy has consistently noted Obama’s connection to Clinton’s illegal private server and its use to send and receive classified information, and has insisted that he was the reason why she was not indicted, because “Hillary couldn’t be proven guilty without proving the president guilty …”

Two weeks ago at National Review, McCarthy reinforced his points:

From the first … the whitewash of the Hillary Clinton–emails caper was President Barack Obama’s call … The decision was inevitable. Obama, using a pseudonymous email account, had repeatedly communicated with Secretary Clinton over her private, non-secure email account.

… If Clinton had been charged, Obama’s culpable involvement would have been patent …

… That is why such an indictment of Hillary Clinton was never going to happen.

… Obama dissembled about his knowledge of Clinton’s private email use in a nationally televised interview.

In that April 10, 2016 interview, Obama told Fox News’s Chris Wallace:

I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department, or the FBI

…  Nobody gets treated differently when it comes to the Justice Department, because nobody is above the law.

McCarthy notes that Obama avoided pre-election accountability in Clinton’s email scandal by having “his email communications with Clinton sealed.”

Given the “potus wants to know everything” text, will the press really continue to cover for him?
