A three-year-old girl from Alabama made a remarkable recovery when she began breathing on her own as doctors prepared to take her off life support.

Lacey Jane Ayers was in a horrific car accident Saturday afternoon while coming home from Christmas shopping with her mother, father and newborn brother in the car.

While the rest of the family only sustained minor injuries, Lacey Jane was airlifted to Alabama Children’s Hospital where she was put on life support.

Though her condition improved before pulling the plug, the family is now waiting for the swelling in her brain to go down in order to know if she will have permanent damage and how long the road to recovery will be. …

Go here for the rest of the story.

Liftable has updated the December 2017 story:

Recovery was a long road, but on Jan. 16, 2018, Lacey was able to go home.

“We can’t think you enough for all of the prayers. We hold these in our hearts forever!” the family wrote around the anniversary of the day she went home from the hospital.

In August 2018, Lacey hit another milestone — she started kindergarten, according to a tweet by her grandmother, Diane Ayers.

Lacey’s story is a true miracle and one that reminds us of just how precious and valuable our life on this earth really is.

Remember to cherish each day with your loved ones. You never know what could change in the blink of an eye.
