Governor Palin had a priori knowledge that the baby had certain challenges, so I am puzzled as to why you termed it as a ‘high risk’ pregnancy. Are you implying that it was high risk because there was no attending physician? If so, you should be aware that babies are born naturally (only abortions really require medical ‘help’) all over the world.
I am a man, but somehow seem to remember that the water does break before the delivery. I also seem to remember that a baby eventually ensues. It must be a very difficult notion for most atheists to comprehend, but that appears to be the Divine plan.

The risk of Down’s Syndrome increases sharply as a woman’s eggs age. She and Mr. Palin were simply unlucky enough to have a chromosomally damaged egg fertilize. Michelle Malkin wrote a whole damn book defending the racist internment of Japanese Americans during WWII as some kind of nutty way to justify similar treatments of Muslims and Arab Americans today.
She’s also a complete raving lunatic and she NEVER pulls any punches when attacking liberals. Hell, recently she attacked Rachel Ray for appearing in a Dunkin Donuts ad wearing an Arab-style scarf calling her a “tool of the jihad”. I think that would qualify as a bigoted smear.

Alan, when did you get your MD? When did you complete your residency in OB/GYN? As a handicapped person I am shocked and appalled at your insensitive comments. There is no way to prevent Trisomy 21 like any other genetic disease, be it inherited or a spontaneous mutation post conception.

As a sister of a brother with Down syndrome, I am offended and confused about why you chose to bring up something hurtful and false. What is it you’Äôre trying to say? What was the point of this? Why is this your business? Do you think my mother didn’Äôt take proper pre-natal care during her pregnancy? I really don’Äôt know how I can bare to watch you on Hannity and Colmes anymore.
As a “journalist” you are supposed to research the given topic before you blurt out or write something false. I’Äôm not even asking you to properly research it, a simple google or Wikipedia search would have been suffice. If you were intelligent, you would realize that a child with DS is not genetic nor is it caused by something we know, it’Äôs an extra chromosome!

Alan, this post really sinks to a new low. If Ms. Palin consulted by phone with her obstetrician, and then followed his advice, what business is it of yours or anyone else’s? Doctors only become concerned about the possibility of infection if labor doesn’t start within 24 hours after the water breaks. How do I know this? I am an obstetrical RN.
The truth is, you and your liberal friends are looking for any possible avenue to attack Sarah Palin. This story looked like a good way to try to paint her as irresponsible. It is also pretty vile, but that sort of thing from the Left has ceased to surprise me.
As an RN, and the sister of a man with Down’s syndrome, I’d advise you to look elsewhere. All this is going to do is enrage women, and other persons of decency, everywhere.
